Peter Richards Surveying (PRS) Joins Consulting Surveyors Victoria

After more than 20 years in the building and construction industry, Peter Richards Surveying (PRS) has joined Consulting Surveyors Victoria (CSV) – a representative body of private surveying companies across Victoria.

When a surveying business applies to be a member of Consulting Surveyors Victoria, stringent eligibility must be met. Prospective members must have the correct insurances, demonstrate a strong track record of success in completed work and commit to the body’s overarching mission: continual development of a prosperous private sector of the surveying profession, to provide the highest quality services to broader society. There are currently just 114 members.

Peter Richards Surveying (PRS) exemplifies the high standards required of CSV members. We have been a trusted name in surveying for decades, due largely to our unwavering focus on quality and servicing client’s needs.

Our founder, Peter Richards, dedicated his career initially to providing effective land surveying services to Melbourne’s North Eastern Suburbs. This has now grown to servicing all of Melbourne metropolitan areas and regional Victoria.

He is passionate about the importance of accurate surveying in all construction projects – large, small and those in between. To this day, Peter continues to play an important role in the company, mentoring emerging surveyors and providing guidance on-site.

Brodie Richards, Peter’s son and co-director, now runs the company day to day and is a licensed surveyor himself. Brodie undertook tertiary studies as well as the extensive training and testing set by the Surveyors Board of Victoria to become a licensed land surveyor, something he and all of us at PRS are very proud of. Brodie believes the company’s success has come from the values Peter put in place and it is now in his capable hands to continue this legacy and build from.

‘At Peter Richards Surveying, our commitment to excellence in land surveying is clear in every project we complete. This is because the entire team works together towards a shared goal: to provide the highest quality of land surveyors that our clients deserve.’

One key factor valued by CSV when evaluating surveying companies is staff education. Many people know when they need a land surveyor, whether they’re a land-owner looking to subdivide or an architect designing a build. Few may understand the difference in surveyor qualifications. A licensed land surveyor is the best qualified and at PRS we currently have 3 on staff with 2 further staff under active training agreements. Our teams are made up of a combination of licensed surveyors & university qualified surveyors so that newly qualified surveyors can gain experience from seniors in their field. PRS invests in training and staff development and this ensures that all projects are handled by an adequately qualified professional.

Over the last four years, PRS has grown substantially – both in size and scope. Our team of over 40 staff lend their skills to building projects and land surveying contracts for a large client base ranging from individuals, small-medium developers & companies through to the larger companies such as Metricon and Glenvill, AV Jennings and the like.

Becoming a member of a representative body such as CSV is proof that we at PRS are heading in the right direction for the future!
